The social media platform X experienced a widespread outage on Tuesday, with users around the world reporting trouble accessing the service, according to data from Downdetector.
The disruption began at about 9 a.m. Eastern Time, with the highest number of problem reports in the United States, where more than 28,300 issues were logged. As the situation improved, reports in the U.S. dropped to around 700.
In the United Kingdom, reports peaked above 8,000 before falling to roughly 130, and in Canada they declined from over 3,200 earlier in the day.
In Pakistan, outage reports reached 93 in the evening before decreasing to just four later on.
X has not yet provided an explanation for the cause of the outage, and the company did not immediately respond to requests for comment. The figures from outage trackers like Downdetector are based on user submissions and may not reflect the exact number of affected users.
This isn’t the platform’s first major disruption in recent months; a previous outage in November 2025 was linked to issues with web infrastructure services that briefly affected access to X and other online services.
