The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency, Pakistan’s leading cybercrime force, has been in the news for the last few days related to different cases of cyberharassment.
Father arrested for selling children’s indecent videos
On Sunday, the agency wrote on a social media post that they have busted a child pornography network. NCCIA Islamabad Additional Director Mohammad Shoaib Khan shared that this is the first case in Pakistan’s history where a father has been found involved in such a case.
It was shared that the man was making indecent videos of his children, between the ages of four and five, and selling them on a secret Telegram group.
The investigation revealed the the ringleader of the gang belonged to Skardu and he has been arrested with the assistance of international agencies.
Men arrested for befriending children online, blackmailing them
Sharing details of another case, Khan said that they have also arrested four members of an alleged child pornography gang after investigating around 60 videos recovered from a child’s mobile phone.
The suspects used to befriend children aged between six to 14 on Instagram, lure them with money, made their inappropriate videos and sold them internationally via WhatsApp groups.
Lahore man arrested for blackmailing children
NCCIA also arrested a suspect in Lahore for allegedly threatening minors to sell their private pictures and videos on pornographic websites.
NCCIA Lahore Zone Additional Director Atif Ameer told reporters on Saturday that suspect Umair Wilayat had been arrested near Pakistan Mint in Shalimar Town and his two mobile phones had been taken into custody.
According to the investigation, the suspect contacted minors through social media platforms and obtained their objectionable pictures and videos to blackmail them. He threatened to sell the content on pornographic websites to make money.
The agency said examination of the data of seized phones showed conversations containing evidence of blackmail and attempts to gain financial benefits through objectionable material. Details of multiple email accounts and social media account credentials were found saved in a password manager on the phone.
13 people remanded into custody over animated child pornography
A Karachi court on Saturday remanded 13 suspects in the custody of NCCIA in the cases pertaining to alleged online sale and production of animated child sexual abuse and pornographic material and deceptive social media activities.
The suspects were arrested on October 23, 2026 during a raid at Karachi’s Rabia City in Gulistan-e-Jauhar, targeting three firms allegedly involved in production, promotion, and online sale of sexually explicit animated cartoons, animated child sexual abuse material, pornographic digital content and other digital designing services to international customers.
The NCCIA officials produced 13 suspects before a judicial magistrate (East) and sought their custody for further investigation and arrest of their alleged accomplices. They also submitted that mobile phones had been seized from the detained suspects and further time was required for technical examination and forensic analysis of these devices.
Karachi girl prevented from self-harm
On October 23, it was reported that NCCIA prevented a teenage girl in Karachi from causing self-harm after she was influenced by a group operating on the dark web, Dawn reported.
NCCIA Karachi Additional Director Tariq Nawaz said action by the agency was taken after they received a lead from a foreign crime investigation agency. The official separately explained while speaking on Geo News programme ‘Aaj Shahzeb Khanzada Kay Saath’ that information had been shared with the NCCIA that a group operating on the dark web had been influencing people to commit violent acts.
He added that once the NCCIA was able to track down the affected girl, it transpired during a probe that she had been exposed to the group through social media. “She then engaged with them on a messaging application and was being assigned different tasks.”
Nawaz said the tasks also included harming her pet, and the NCCIA was able to trace her before she could complete the next task, which was causing self-harm. He also said the devices in the girl’s use had been analysed and taken into custody for further examination.
