Days before completion of its term, Cabinet approves Digital Pakistan Policy

DRMby DRM
May 23, 2018

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s government has finally approved the Digital Pakistan Policy 2017, days before the completion of its term.

As per detail, the policy was approved in a cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi here on May 22, 2018.

Pro Pakistani reported that earlier, PM Abbasi had declined to approve it and stated that it should be approved by the next government but later changed his mind.

The Digital Pakistan Policy lists a series of IT related interventions that the government intends to take in the coming future in different sectors.

Digital Rights Monitor also conducted a comprehensive analysis of Draft version of Digital Pakistan Policy 2017 in its recent publication “The Internet Governance and Digital Rights Monitor”. It can be accessed here.
