ISLAMABAD: The Rawalpindi Islamabad Union of Journalists (RIUJ) has condemned the ongoing vilification campaign against senior journalist and anchorperson Talat Hussain.

Hussain, a senior journalist from the print and broadcast media, currently hosts the Naya Pakistan programme on Geo News.

A press release issued on Monday evening stated that the elected body of RIUJ held a special meeting in this regard.

In the meeting, chaired by RIUJ President Mubarak Zeb Khan, a concern was aired that other journalists could be targetted in the same manner in the future if the present condemnable social media campaign against Talat continues.

The meeting expressed serious anger and regretted the social media assault on the senior journalist.

The meeting demanded that those behind this campaign should be sought out and strict action is taken against them.

Earlier, the anchorperson informed the meeting of the entire episode.

Senior members of the RIUJ, the Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists, and senior journalists were present on the occasion.
