#KeepItOn: In Discussion with Advocate Umer Gillani on Network Shutdowns in Pakistan

DRMby DRM
March 26, 2018

People in Islamabad suffered from yet another round of network shutdown in connection with full dress rehearsal of Pakistan Day Parade. The practice of network shutdowns as a security measure was recently declared illegal and disproportionate response to security by Justice Athar Minallah on the Islamabad High Court. The shutdown today happened after a larger bench of IHC stayed the original discussion. Joining Sadaf Khan for a live discussion Media Matters for Democracy on the legality on network disconnections is Umer Gilani, the lawyer representing the case against network shutdowns.
