QUETTA: A judicial magistrate on Wednesday acquitted a journalist in a cybercrime case.

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) had registered a first information report against Zafarullah Achakzai under the Pakistan Electronic Crimes Act (2016) in June 2017 for spreading misinformation against the law enforcement agencies (LEAs) on social media.

The court on Wednesday issued his release orders. It said that due to insufficient evidence and contradiction in the statements of the witness, it acquitted Mr Zafarullah.
