Taliban bans internet in Northern Afghanistan to “prevent immoral activities”

Users in Pakistan are expected to experience slower internet speeds and internet disruption on January 15, 2026 over repair work, TechJuice has reported.

Major internet service providers, including Nayatel, issued a nationwide alert in which they told the subcribers that they may experience slow internet speeds due to critical infrastructure maintenance.

The slowdown is expected to occur from 2pm to 10pm on January 15, 2026. During this window, users can anticipate slower browsing and download speeds, potential buffering during streaming, latency spikes in online gaming.

According to the alert, the disruption will be caused by “unavoidable planned maintenance on the submarine cable at the upstream provider end”.

The alert mentions that users and businesses are advised to plan ahead, especially for video conferencing, large file transfers, or other online work.

Submarine cables enable international connectivity and are essential for high-speed internet access.
