FIA arrests man for raping minors, filming assaults

News Source: Pakistan Today

Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) cybercrime cell on Friday arrested a 45-year-old man named Saleem for raping several minor girls and filming the assaults in order to extract money from the victims’ families through blackmail.

FIA conducted the raid with the investigative team of a private TV channel and arrested the man who is a resident of Lahore’s Badamibagh area. The TV channel was informed about the man’s criminal activities through one of its informers.

FIA also recovered his smartphone which contained at least 27 videos of him sexually assaulting minor girls. The man also confessed to the crime. “I want you to kill me,” the man told FIA officials.

In August 2018, Sahil, an NGO working on protection of children against violence, released a report stating that child sexual abuse cases in Pakistan have increased from nine cases per day in 2017 to 12 cases per day in the first six months of 2018. The data also revealed that children in the age brackets of 6-10 and 11-15 are most vulnerable to abuse.
