Facebook, Instagram and Whatsapp experience global outages

DRMby DRM
April 15, 2019

ISLAMABAD: Facebook’s family of apps suffered global outages for around two hours here on Sunday.

Local and International media reports suggested that the social media apps including Facebook, Instagram and Whatsapp remained unavailable during  3:30-6 PM Pakistan time (6:30-9 AM ET time) mainly in Asia and Europe. As a result, users complained of not being able to refresh the news feeds on Facebook and Instagram whereas users on Whatsapp were unable to send or receive messages.

While it is not clear what caused the outages, a Facebook representative was quoted as saying: “Earlier today, some people may have experienced trouble connecting to the family of apps. The issue has since been resolved; we’re sorry for any inconvenience.”

This is not the first time that Facebook experienced outages. In March, services of the social media giants remained inaccessible to users for around 24 hours owing to a “server configuration change.”
