TikTok removed about 14.14 million videos in Pakistan from April to June 2023, the company has disclosed in its quarterly report.

TikTok released on Thursday its Community Guidelines Enforcement Report for the second quarter of 2023. The report provides insights into the nature of content and accounts removed by the platform over wide-ranging violations of its community guidelines, including mis/disinformation and fake engagement.

TikTok removed over 106 million videos globally from April to June 2023, which amounts to 0.7 per cent of the total volume of content published on the platform, according to the report.

Pakistan leads the list with the highest volume of videos removed, followed by Indonesia with a removal of over 11 million videos. The US registered a takedown of over 10 million videos.

The popular short-video platform took down about 14.14 million videos from the Pakistani market. About 83.6 per cent of these videos were removed before gaining any videos and 92.5 per cent were deleted within a day.

TikTok removed more than 570 million fake likes across the platform. The company also removed 7.9 million ads for violating TikTok’s advertising rules.

In the first quarter of 2023 (January-March), Pakistan registered a removal of nearly 12 million videos, of which 83 per cent were taken down before any views and 92.2 per cent were removed within the first 24 hours of posting.
