Mobile internet in Dalbandin suspended after brief resumption

Talal Razaby Talal Raza
October 20, 2017

DALBALDIN: Mobile internet service in parts of Dalbandin, Balochistan had been suspended again after brief resumption.

According to sources, mobile internet in Dalbandin became functional after Warid telecom made internet temporarily accessible on Saturday, October 14, 2017.  Following Warid, Ufone also made its mobile internet services accessible.

However, the mobile internet was shut down again within a day, according to Ali Raza Rind, a local journalist. “Warid had opened its network to undertake some maintenance work”, he said.

Furthermore, Raza also revealed that Pakistan Telecommunication Network, PTCL, and PTCL’s wireless internet service EVO had also not been working since February 2017. However, he noted that broadband was functioning in the area.

It is to be noted that mobile internet services and PTCL EVO remain suspended since February 2017 in different parts of Baluchistan including Chamman (Qila Abdullah), Turbat,  Pishin, Qalat, Kharan, Panjgur and Dalbandin.

Although, no official reason has been cited but sources believe that the internet has been suspended to prevent militants from communicating freely in cyberspace.
