August 26, 2022 – The voice and internet services have been disrupted due to heavy rains and floods in different areas of Balochistan, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) said on Friday.
The areas facing disruptions in communication include Quetta, Ziarat, Loralai, Pishin, Khuzdar, Zhob, Qila Saifullah, and Qila Abdullah, according to the telecom regulator. The outages have been caused by damage to the fibre-optic cable in flood-hit areas.
“Efforts are being made to resolve this unprecedented situation,” said PTA, adding that the authority is monitoring the situation and will share further updates soon.

Earlier this week, disruptions in internet services were reported on Twitter by users from various cities, followed by statements from PTCL and PTA. The disruptions were caused by a technical fault in the fibre-optic cables due to heavy rains and floods.
According to latest reports, more connectivity problems are expected in the coming days.
