October 9, 2020

Media Matters for Democracy hosted a Facebook Live discussion on Friday about reforming the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) and the impact of the new rules to regulate online content.

Speakers Hija Kamran and Zoya Rehman highlighted the effects of PECA on online freedom of expression, access to information, digital privacy, and the growth of the digital economy in Pakistan.

The discussion was based around policy recommendations about PECA reforms provided in a white paper published by Media Matters for Democracy. The complete white paper is available here.
