Privacy-in-Law Vodcast series

Under the campaign #PrivacyHumSabKe (Privacy for all), different aspects of data protection polices and laws in Pakistan were reviewed.

In the series Privacy-in-Law, we looked at some of the regulatory frameworks governing data privacy and protection laws in Pakistan, and where they lack. This was to give people awareness about the vulnerability of their data, and why laws on data protection often cause the data breaches and leaks, simply because authorities and agencies are given the power of surveillance, and collection of citizens’ private data.

Here are all the episodes in the series, which feature MMfD Program Manager and Advocate Salwa Rana.

Episode 1: Legal Framework of Digital Privacy Laws in Pakistan

Episode 2: NADRA Ordinance, 2002

Episode 3: Investigation for Fair Trial Act, 2013 and Pakistan Telecommunication Re-Organisation Act, 1996

Episode 4: Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act, 2016

Episode 5: Personal Data Protection Bill, 2018
